Category 5 - (a.k.a. Cat5) a four-pair, twisted, telephone-style cable that is used to carry telephone and data signals at rates of up to 100Mb/s.

Category 6 - (a.k.a. Cat6 ) a four-pair, twisted, telephone-style cable with a longitudinal separator to ensure that each pair is kept a minimum distance from its neighbour. It supports more than double the bandwidth of Cat5, but requires a higher standard of installation.
